The challenge welcomes Graphic Designers to create a two-page magazine spread for a celebrity magazine article. You have the liberty to style the layout, typography, and visuals for a feature on anyone famous who is an inspiration to you. This can be anyone from an actor, musician, or artist to a designer, athlete, or business mogul. You can pick anyone and anything; it is really up to you.
The icing on the cake? Your graphic can model your style, aesthetics, and interpretations of the celebrity you are featuring. So be bold; be far-out; be classical or minimalist: whatever you fancy! Please do; we encourage exploration! This is about more than just the final design. How to Enter:
The way of Entry into the competition is very simple. Just follow these steps:
Read the Design Brief: Understand the contest requirements and guidelines in detail (you will find the design brief at the bottom of this page).
Submit Your Designs: You can submit up to three entries and each design must be submitted either in PDF, JPG, or PNG format. Maximum file size allowed is under 10 MB.
Mark the Deadline: All submissions must be made on or before November 4, 2024.
Join the Live Review: Once the submissions come to an end, live review session will be held on youtube on November 7th at 2 PM GMT. In this session, winners up to three will be announced, and general feedback will be given to all participants regarding improvements for their work.
The Design Brief:
The idea is quite a simple but dynamic one: create a celebrity spread magazine of two pages based on a celebrity of your choice. In other words, it can be anyone: a film star, a musician, a model, an athlete, or a business mogul. You can even design a feature article about someone you idolize, a cultural icon, or a trendsetter in his or her industry.
Visual Style:
You are free to design the spread exactly as you want-a bold modern edgy aesthetic, modern elegant refinement, whatever it is, it is for you to decide. Whatever interpretation that design would make, it should speak of how the celebrity would look like as well as what they would feel. The visual style should therefore be in sync with the target market and center the celebrity himself in the spread.
Target Audience:
The target audience for this magazine spread is 21-and-older people who enjoy music, art, and pop culture. So this design has to be interesting, thrilling, and engaging for them. Keep in mind that this audience is likely to be very much creative and nearing the trend, so design should feel very fresh, current, and visual.
What You’ll Submit:
This contest allows up to three different designs to be submitted. Each design must be a final, polished example submitted as either a PDF, JPG, or PNG file. Feel free to attach sketches or mocks of your concepts to give us a look into your thinking process. Such sketches, however, are optional and do not have to be included in the submission.
No file should exceed 10 MB in size, which means all images will now be optimized accordingly.
